Services Provided

Transitional Housing emphasizes family programming. Participants in the program receive support from a Transitional Housing Support Specialist including:

  • Help defining options

  • Help obtaining a GED or other education

  • Help identifying and contacting other needed services

  • Help finding and keeping a job

  • Help obtaining child support

  • Help obtaining child care

  • Help with money management

Pathfinder Services Inc.’s Transitional Housing program helps families who are homeless achieve self sufficiency and permanent housing. Transitional Housing provides services such as: budgeting, employment assistance, housing and life skills training for up to 2 years.

Pathfinder Services Inc.’s Transitional Housing program includes rental of a safe minimally-furnished house or apartment. All residences are equipped with smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers, refrigerators, stoves, furniture and some cookware.

 Requirements for Participants

In order to remain in the Pathfinder Services Inc.’s Transitional Housing Program participants must:

-         Continue working on personal goals

-         Keep the home clean

-         Pay rent equal to 30% of income

Eligibility

Families with children who have no dwelling or resources to obtain a dwelling are eligible for the services of Transitional Housing.

  • Please provide the Transitional Housing Support Specialist with the name, address, and phone number at which the head of household may be contacted and information about their current living situation. Whenever possible, please have the head of household call.
  • The potential participant will then complete an application form and Pathfinder Services Inc. will check references and coordinate with other appropriate human service agencies. Children who are less than seven years old must have the lead level in their blood tested.
  • Pathfinder Services Inc. will conduct two to three interviews with the family to determine whether admission is appropriate. If so, and space is available, the participants must sign a service agreement. The service may be ended any time within the two years by either Pathfinder Services, Inc., or the participant.
